Terms for Creators

What you accept when opening an account and publishing causes on Causfy. First the essentials; below, the detail.

Last updated:

In short

To create causes you need an account and to be at least 18 years old. The account may be personal or business, and you can invite a team to manage it. You can create signature causes or fundraising causes.

Creating a cause, publishing it, gathering signatures at any of its levels and downloading the certificates is free and with no limit on signatures. Causfy does not charge per signature.

The signatures you gather are personal data, and you are answerable for them. Causfy stores them encrypted so that only you can open them, with your passkey, and delivers them to you when you finish the cause; when you publish your first cause you accept the agreement that governs this.

Keep your passkeys and your recovery code safe: if you lose them all, your signers’ certificates cannot be recovered.

Every cause is reviewed before publication. You are answerable for what you state and for whom you address it to. If a measure affects you, we tell you why and you can appeal.

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. The Spanish version is the one that prevails.

Who they apply to

1.1. To you, if you open an Account on Causfy to create and manage Causes, whether you are a person or an organisation. You accept them when creating the Account.

1.2. Whoever signs, boosts or contributes to your Cause is governed by the Terms of Use. What those people can do and what they are promised is there, and you cannot alter it.

1.3. Who provides the service. “Causfy”, “the Platform” and “we” refer to CAUSFY GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, S.L., a Spanish company whose details are set out at the end of this document.

1.4. Documents that complete these Terms. The Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, the Platform Rules, the Artificial Intelligence Policy and the Data Processing Agreement form part of them, and prevail in their subject matter.

1.5. Platforms under another brand. If you use Causfy through another company that offers it under its own brand, that company’s terms apply to you.

What Causfy is and what it is not

3.1. What the Platform does. It allows you to publish Causes and gather Support for them. There are two types of Cause: signature causes, which gather Signatures, and fundraising causes, which gather Contributions. You decide the type when creating it. What you can do in each country depends on its legislation and on the payment providers available.

3.2. Causfy is an intermediary. It is not a party to the relationship between you, those who support your Cause and the Addressee. With regard to your signers’ data, Causfy acts on your behalf, as processor (section 9).

3.3. Causfy does not endorse Causes. Causfy verifies who you are (section 4.6), and when it has done so your Causes carry the “verified” badge. That badge attests your identity, not what you say: that your Cause is published does not mean that Causfy shares it or guarantees that what it states is true. You are answerable for its content.

3.4. Causfy does not guarantee results. We do not guarantee that your Cause will reach a given number of Supports, that its Addressee will respond or that it will produce any effect.

3.5. It is not advice. Nothing in the Services is legal, tax, medical or financial advice.

3.6. Payments. Causfy is not a payment institution and never holds the money of Contributions: it reaches you directly. Payments and collections are executed by independent payment service providers, under their own terms.

3.7. Changes to the service. We may modify, add or withdraw features. If a change affects you substantially, we will communicate it with at least thirty calendar days’ notice.

Your account

4.1. Age. To create an Account and publish Causes you must be 18 years old or, if the age of majority in your country of residence is higher, that age. Whoever opens an Account on behalf of an organisation declares that they have the power to represent it.

4.2. Declaration of age. Age is established by your own declaration, except where identity verification is required.

4.3. Accuracy. The details you provide must be true and kept up to date.

4.4. Personal and business accounts. A business Account belongs to the organisation, and whoever manages it acts on its behalf.

4.5. Passwordless sign-in. There are no passwords. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, with a passkey on your device or through your Google, LinkedIn or Facebook account.

4.6. Identity verification. To download your signers’ Certificates and to receive payments through the Platform you must verify your identity, and in business Accounts also that of the organisation. Verification is carried out by a specialised provider, under the terms of the Privacy Policy. Once you have completed it, your Causes and your profile carry the “verified” badge. Verification includes a selfie and a liveness check, which are biometric data: you are asked for your explicit consent before starting.

4.7. Accounts to circumvent restrictions. You may not create another Account to circumvent a restriction imposed under these Terms.

4.8. Impersonation. You may not act on behalf of another person, entity or organisation without being authorised.

4.9. Territorial restrictions. Some Services may not be available in countries subject to international sanctions or excluded by payment service providers.

4.10. Closing your account. You may request the closure of your Account at any time from the Platform itself. Your Causes are marked as finished and remain published, with your name as Creator; if you prefer them not to be, unpublish them before closing your account or ask us afterwards. For 90 days you can download your signers’ Certificates and confirm that you have decrypted them; after that period they are erased. What happens to your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Your passkeys and the recovery code

5.1. Your signers’ Certificates are stored encrypted so that they can only be opened with your passkey. Causfy cannot open them on its own.

5.2. When creating the Account you are given, once only, a recovery code. Keep it where you will not lose it.

5.3. If you lose all your passkeys and the recovery code, the encrypted Certificates of your Account cannot be recovered, because Causfy cannot open them. That is the consequence of Causfy being unable to read them.

5.4. You are answerable for safeguarding your passkeys and for what is done from your Account. If you detect access that is not yours, let us know without delay.

Your team

6.1. You may invite other people to manage your Account, with the permissions you decide, and withdraw their access at any time.

6.2. You are answerable for what the people you have given access to do from your Account.

6.3. Each member with permission to do so has their own protected copy of the Certificates key, tied to their passkey. When a member is removed, their copy is erased.

Your causes

7.1. Review before publication. Every Cause is reviewed before publication. Until then it is not visible to the public.

7.2. How it is reviewed. The review combines automated means, which use artificial intelligence, with human review. When the automated result is not clear, a person decides.

7.3. Right to review by a person. If your Cause is rejected, suspended or removed, you may ask for a person to review the decision (section 11).

7.4. Modifications. You may modify your Cause after publishing it, provided you do not change what it asks for or the purpose for which the Support already obtained was gathered.

7.5. States of a Cause. A published Cause may be paused and resumed whenever you want: while it is paused it does not admit Signatures or Contributions, but it remains active. When you finish it, the Cause remains published and visible, with its text and its Support counter, but it no longer admits Signatures or Contributions and cannot be activated again. You may unpublish it whenever you want. Causfy may remove it from view through a measure under section 11.

7.6. Effects of finishing or removing a Cause. It does not affect the validity of the Support already given or the Certificates generated.

7.7. Addressees. You choose whom to address your Cause to and are answerable for naming them. Their name and position are published with the Cause. Address it to whoever can deal with what you are asking, and do not use the name of an Addressee to attack them or to attribute to them facts you cannot substantiate.

7.8. The Cause must correspond to its purpose. It must correspond to the purpose for which it was created. You may not use it to obtain support intended for another purpose.

Your content

8.1. Your content is yours. What you publish remains yours.

8.2. Licence to Causfy. By publishing it you grant us a free, worldwide and non-exclusive licence to reproduce it, display it, adapt it and communicate it publicly, for the sole purpose of providing the Services and making them known. The licence ends when you remove the content, except in backup copies and in what we must keep by legal obligation.

8.3. Declaration. You declare that you have the right to publish what you publish and that it does not infringe third parties’ rights.

8.4. Causes are public. Their content can be seen by any visitor and may appear in search engines.

8.5. What is not permitted. Nothing illegal, no hatred, harassment, threats, impersonation, deception, sexually explicit or violent content without justification, third parties’ personal data without authorisation, advertising or mass communications, or infringing intellectual property rights. The Platform Rules detail this with examples and apply to everything you publish, including live streams and their chat.

8.6. Content generated with artificial intelligence. It is subject to these Terms and to the Rules like any other. Its origin does not excuse any breach.

Your signers’ data

Whoever gathers signatures gathers personal data. You are the controller of the data of those who sign your Cause, and Causfy processes it on your behalf as processor.

9.1. What you receive. The Certificate of each Signature, with the signer’s name and email, the text of the petition, the date and time, the technical data of the signature and the verification record. You download it and it is decrypted on your own device; to download it you must have verified your identity (section 4.6). It is what you need to present the Cause to the Addressee. The Certificates can only be downloaded when you finish the Cause. While it is active or paused you see the summary of signatures: totals, dates and countries.

9.2. What you may use it for. Only for the Cause and to prove support before its Addressee. You may not sell it, transfer it or use it for any other purpose.

9.3. Your signers may contact you. You must attend to the rights they ask you to exercise over their data. And if one deletes their Signature after you have downloaded their Certificate, you must erase your copy; Causfy informs you.

9.4. How you communicate with them. Only through the features of the Platform, and only with those who asked to receive updates. You may not use their emails outside the Platform.

9.5. What is visible of each Signature. Publicly, only the initial of the signer’s name followed by four asterisks and how long ago they signed, with no other data. You see the summary and, when you finish the Cause, the full Certificates.

9.6. The Data Processing Agreement. When you publish your first Cause you accept the Data Processing Agreement between you, as controller, and Causfy, as processor. It sets out what Causfy does with that data on your behalf, how it protects it and when it erases it. It forms part of these Terms.

9.7. How long Causfy keeps it. While the Cause is active or paused, and from the moment you finish it until you confirm on the Platform that you have decrypted the Certificates. If you do not confirm, they are erased 90 days after finishing, after notifying you. Before confirming, check that your copy is complete and legible: afterwards, Causfy will no longer be able to deliver it to you again. From the moment you download them, your copy is yours and you keep it under your own responsibility.

What is free and what has a price

10.1. What is free. Creating a Cause, publishing it, keeping it active, finishing it, gathering signatures and downloading the Certificates costs nothing, and there is no limit on signatures.

10.2. Signature levels. In a signature Cause you choose the level it requires: basic signature, verified identity or certified identity, as described in the Terms of Use. The higher the level, the more people may be left out because they cannot identify themselves; choose the one your Addressee needs. Today no level has a cost. Causfy does not charge per signature: if any level were to acquire a price, it would be contracted in packages, you would be told before activating it and notice would be given as provided in section 15.

10.3. Fundraising causes. A fundraising Cause cannot be published until you have verified your identity (section 4.6) and set up at least one means of collection: a collection account with our payment service provider for card payments, a bank account in your name opened through our provider to receive transfers, or your own cryptocurrency wallet. When opening the collection account or the bank account you accept the terms of the corresponding provider, on its own screen, and that provider applies its own fees. No means of collection can be activated without verification. The money goes to the Cause and Causfy charges no commission on the amount gathered; if this were to change, notice would be given thirty calendar days in advance. The money reaches you directly, to your collection account with the payment provider, to your bank account or to your cryptocurrency wallet: Causfy does not hold it and cannot withhold it or refund it. What you say about the destination of the money must be true, and you are answerable for applying it to the declared purpose, for your tax obligations and for the authorisations you need to raise funds in your country. If your Cause is removed for fraud or for a serious breach, Causfy cancels your Account, informs the payment providers and, where appropriate, the authorities; refunding what was received is your responsibility.

10.4. Cryptocurrency collections. a) Your wallet is yours. Causfy holds none of its keys and cannot execute, authorise, block or reverse any transaction in it. Causfy does not provide custody, exchange or order transmission services for crypto-assets on behalf of third parties. b) You are answerable for the safekeeping of your keys and recovery phrases. If you lose them, Causfy cannot recover the funds or the access. c) You are answerable for the configured address and network being correct. Funds sent to a wrong address or network may be lost forever. d) Causfy is not answerable for the risks inherent in public networks and crypto-assets: failures of third-party contracts or protocols, freezing of balances by the issuer of a stablecoin, loss of peg, network congestion or fees. e) None of the above excludes Causfy’s liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

10.5. Boosts. They are a service that other people contract from Causfy to give visibility to your Cause: it moves to a featured position on the portal, marked “Promoted”. Causfy decides with editorial freedom which causes it publishes on its social networks. You will see how many it has received, never the amounts or who paid for them. They do not count as Signatures or as Contributions, and you pay nothing for them.

10.6. Other services with a price. If another service with a price is offered, before contracting it you are informed of the amount, the taxes and what it includes. If you are a consumer, you have fourteen calendar days to withdraw, unless you ask for provision to begin immediately and it is completed within that period.

10.7. Third-party costs. Payment service providers apply their own fees, which Causfy does not receive.

Moderation, measures and appeals

11.1. Measures. If you breach these Terms or the Rules, Causfy may remove the content, exclude it from the public catalogue, prevent its promotion, suspend your Account temporarily or cancel it. The least severe measure that is effective is adopted, except in cases of particular seriousness or repeat offences.

11.2. Automated means and human review. Moderation uses automated means, which include artificial intelligence, and human review. No measure concerning a Cause or an Account is adopted in an exclusively automated manner without you being able to ask for a person to review it.

11.3. We explain the reason. Every measure is communicated to you with its reason: what facts give rise to it, what rule applies, whether automated means were involved and how to appeal.

11.4. Prior notice. Cancellation of an Account is notified in advance, except in cases of particular seriousness or when a legal obligation prevents it.

11.5. Appealing. You may appeal against a measure within six months of its communication. We confirm receipt within 24 to 48 working hours. It is examined by a person other than the one who made the decision and resolved, with its reason, within a maximum of fifteen calendar days. Appeals are made from the help section of the app or, if you cannot sign in, from the contact form.

The assistant and the artificial intelligence features

12.1. The assistant. The app includes an artificial intelligence assistant that guides you on how to use it and helps you prepare forms. It never sends or publishes anything on its own: you do.

12.2. It may be wrong. Its replies and the content generated with artificial intelligence may contain errors. Review them before using them; you are answerable for what you publish.

12.3. Connecting your own assistant. You may connect to your Account an external artificial intelligence assistant via the MCP protocol, with the permissions you grant it; today, Claude, by Anthropic. That assistant acts on your behalf: what it does from your Account is as if you did it, and you are answerable for it. What it reads from your Account (your causes, your counts, your team, your tickets) is sent to the company that provides that assistant, which processes it under its own terms and its own privacy policy, not under Causfy’s. It never accesses the personal data of those who sign your causes: only counts and what is already public. You may revoke the connection at any time from the app.

12.4. The Artificial Intelligence Policy details what these features do, what data they use and what limits they have.

Live streams

13.1. You may stream live from your Cause, with guests, and the audience may take part in a chat.

13.2. You are answerable for what is said and shown in your live stream, including your guests, and you are the one who moderates the chat: you remove messages and expel whoever breaches the Platform Rules. Causfy does not access the content of the live stream or intervene in it in real time; if it receives a notice, it may act afterwards on your Cause or your Account.

Liability and third-party rights

14.1. Availability. The Services are provided as available. We do not guarantee that there will be no interruptions or errors.

14.2. What Causfy is not answerable for. The content of Causes, the destination of the funds gathered, the relationships between Users or with Addressees, or third-party services.

14.3. Limits. Nothing in this section excludes liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, or affects any rights you may have as a consumer.

14.4. Third-party services. The Platform may link to external sites and use external providers, which are governed by their owners’ terms.

14.5. Causfy’s rights. The Causfy trademark, its distinctive signs, the software and the design of the Platform belong to Causfy or are used under licence. They may not be reproduced, transformed, distributed or used commercially without written authorisation.

14.6. Third-party claims about your content. If someone reports that your content infringes their rights, we will examine it in accordance with section 11 and inform you.

Changes, governing law and contact

15.1. Changes to these Terms. We may modify them. Substantial changes are communicated with at least thirty calendar days’ notice, during which you may close your account if you do not accept them. Minor ones are published with the updated date.

15.2. Governing law. These Terms are governed by Spanish law.

15.3. Jurisdiction. The courts and tribunals of Madrid have jurisdiction. If you act as a company or organisation, you waive any other forum. If you are a consumer, the law allows you to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence, and this clause does not take that away from you.

15.4. Language. The Spanish version is the original. The others are courtesy translations and, if they do not match, the Spanish one prevails.

15.5. Who we are and how to contact us. For any matter about your Account or your Causes, use the help section of the app; if you cannot sign in, the contact form at causfy.com. For notices about content, requests and complaints you can also write to the address below, which is Causfy’s single point of contact, for authorities and for users, in matters of digital services.
